We are arranging the meet so that we have 2 relays for each relay event, in order to get more swimmers in the meet. The benefit of such is to get more people eligible to swim the LC Invite on Sunday the 12th of December, and exposure to the meet.

Bonus Events at Juniors: As long as have one actual cut for the meet, can swim up to two bonus events provided the bonus standard is met. That goes for any number of events, all get 2 bonus events. Limit of three events per day. Relay only swimmers may not enter time trials, but may enter the LC Invite.

All those with an actual cut for the junior meet, my goal is to only swim the juniors meet and not Senior State. If we enter you as a relay only swimmer (I will notify those people individually), then swim the SR State meet as well.

Lots of information, but at the end of the day, those with Junior cuts don’t enter the SR State Meet.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

JT

Team,

Hello and Happy Halloween!

Some notes to go be aware of:

• Indeed, no morning practice on Monday the 1st. The pool heater for the indoor competition pool is still down and will be fixed Monday morning. Imagine
• I need to know who is going to Minnesota and who is attending the Emory Meets. Monday the 1st of November is deadline for the Emory Meet, and entries due on the 2nd. So far Astles and Stafford have signed up online for Emory, but I am sure a few more are attending. Please do so on by Monday at noon, so I can have time with events.
• Please forward me your flight information and turn in your $ by Monday the 1st as well for those going to Minnesota Grand Prix. I have attached a breakdown of prelims times from last year(email had the file).
• Team is doing a really good job at dry-land, and competing as a group at it as well as in the water swimming.
• Thanksgiving practice schedule is posted online: schedules

Thanks for your continued support,

JT

Update 6 July 2010

Practice Schedules:

Wednesday: normal schedule (I talked to some of those shaving for sectionals/AG State about what practice to attend on Wednesday).

Thursday: normal schedule

Due to Senior Circuit meet have to change a few practice times:
Friday: AM Group (Lane/Stewart/Schick/Durmer/Stafford(?)) 6:30-8:30 AM
PM Group: Everyone 3:00-5:00 PM (would like for our group to time finals for the Senior Circuit Meet. Meet starts at 6:00 PM, done shortly after 7:00 PM. A good way for us to support our Teammates that are attempting to qualify for Senior State etc. Need at least 9 of you to stay!

Saturday: 10:00AM-12:00PM (Fast)

Sunday: Swim on your own 2,500 on the house/aerobic and technically great

Monday: 6:45-9:00 swim/9:00-10:00 dryland
3:30-5:30 for those not shaving for sectionals.

Tuesday: 7:30-9:00 Swim (Aerobic recovery for all)

Wednesday: 6:45-9:00 AM for all

Thursday: meets starts in Athens/Dynamo!

About the Senior Circuit: This is a small but important meet. Several years ago, the Senior State time standards became faster to manage the size of the Senior State meet. These faster time standards "cut out" some senior swimmers who historically had participated in this meet. Dynamo stepped in to host a Senior Circuit meet with a prelims/finals format for this specific group of swimmers.

Suits: Those shaving for Sectionals can go through Kastaway and get a Team discount, but history has shown that better deals are out there on the Internet. You want the LZR Elite, and remember we are a Speedo Team and compete only is Speedo suits.

Team,

Below is the flight information we are using for Seniors and Juniors Travel. Some notes:
o The request/expectation is that athletes will stay together at the Team Hotel as of the 7th (Irvine Marriott) for the Juniors Meet. Our goal at Seniors is to get some second swims at a selection meet (it will be fast! and so will we). Juniors is a Team effort to win events, and win the meet. We request the athletes stay as a Team as we get many more hours of coaching away from the pool, and the athletes get behind the Team effort. We will swim better in a Team environment, without doubt. We are going to put multiple people on USA Swimming Teams at the meet(s). I think we have spoken to all the Senior National swimmers about their trip and arrangements.
o All athletes make their own travel reservations, preferably on Team flights if not traveling with your family.
o GA Swimming reimbursement is $600 for the Seniors or Juniors. If swimming both, and you did not receive a reimbursement for the December SC Juniors in Columbus, you will receive $1,200 from the LSC. Those with World Ranking will also receive ‘shares’ and fill out that paperwork at the meet.
o Those swimming at Seniors will travel on their own schedule on the way out.
o I will arrive in Orange County on the 1st at 6PM.
o The Team outbound flight for the Junior meet is Delta Flight 1167 on Saturday August 7th departing at 4:19 PM (ATL to SNA (John Wayne Santa Ana)).
o The Team return flight for the meet is Delta 1042/departs on Saturday the 14th at 8:45 AM (Sadly, no mad dash for the airport at the end of this meet Friday night). Last event of the meet is the Medley Relay, one of our better events.
o Please forward your flights to Jason as soon as confirmed to keep track of everyone.
o We will send out another itinerary for the trips as we get closer. This year will be similar to other travel trips, where families will need to submit a check with payment for the hotel portion of the meet ahead of time. The total of our reimbursement will then be forwarded to you after the meet.

Also,
o Friday morning the 2nd of July I will run a 6AM- 8AM practice for those in the Dekalb Swim League.
o There is a Friday afternoon practice on the 2nd 3:30-5:30 PM, and continued normal schedule through Wednesday of next week.
o I have attached the entries for Sectionals. Please review and make any suggestions you may have to your event list by Monday, when it will be sent it.
o Plan is for those who have a full event list at Juniors to skip Senior State. Those still looking for cuts will be entered in Senior State, and we will manage the event list as we go.

Thanks for a good trip to Jacksonville, and particularly the Haas family for allowing us at the Ponte Vidra club, and the Schick’s and Mrs. Christy for their help chaperoning the meet.

Please make sure you register by the 20th of this month for 2010-11. As of the 21st we are going to suspend everyone, and then activate those who have registered in an effort to manage the roster better.

Thanks,

JT

Hello Team,

I was quite pleased with the Dixie Classic. I know the scoreboard was not always in agreement, but there were more changes, and commitment to changes than I have ever perceived before. Our work on pacing and being technical the first part of the race and then more physical in the appropriate segment of the race has shown up. We made some mistakes getting out too slow, but better now than later in the season. We do swim down to our competition at times, which is frustrating …

We welcome two new members to our group today, Sarah Smith and Gunnar Bentz. This came about with Coach Jon Beber leaving us, and managing group changes for people. Let’s continue to do a good job of welcoming people.

I need your Bolles/Jacksonville trip stuff by Tuesday at the latest. Missing quite a few, and our summer schedule is built around that meet. The Bolles Team is vey good, Junior National Champions and we need to show up and make this meet a priority. This will leave us three weeks out of Sectionals, 4 weeks out of Sr. States. Please get this in by Tuesday practice so we can plan accordingly.

We have two more weeks of normal schedule, which we will do without mornings. I want you to have energy for exams, as well as get to summer schedule with something in the tank. Expect to get going right away at 3:45PM, and pack it into practice for this time. I am running another practice at 11:30 -1:15PMish for college kids for these two weeks as well. I am sure that Peter Haas will be available then, maybe some others.

Reminders:
* Bolles Trip Information
* Dynamo Work Day this Saturday from 9:00-1:00. Major projects are cutting back the brush and cleaning the dome.
* Dynamo Banquet and Senior recognition is on Saturday the 19th of June. Look for Sign-up information.
* Summer Schedule as of June 1:
* Monday through Friday 6:45 AM-9:00 AM
* Monday, Wednesday Friday Dryland either 9:00-9:45 or 2:45-3:30 (you chose)
* Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3:30-5:30 PM
* Saturday 7:00-10:30 AM (includes dryland)

Thanks for your continued support. We are going to race really well the latter part of this year. I am excited.

Funny Story

Funny story from the weekend: I fell out of a truck. In helping a friend move, I fell out of the back of the truck onto the pavement and fractured three ribs, 9, 10 and 11. Spent from yesterday afternoon through just now in the hospital. Luckily, no collapsed lung.

I tell you this as I am going to need a couple of days away from practice the beginning of this week. I have sent Monday and Tuesday workouts to Beth and Rich (taking a break from pain meds just now, so wanted to pound it out while I have a thought in my head). Expect to go combined with Beth on Monday, and Rich will come down and do Tuesdays. We will see where I am at then.

Continue to prepare as if all are going to Columbus, and we need to be better at helping each other. I will still be at the meet, though someone may need to carry my luggage. Keep coming, just keep coming.

It is just going to take some time, and right now I cannot move without (1) extreme pain and (2) trouble breathing.

As always, thanks for your support

JT

Good morning!

Practice Schedule
Tuesday. March 16 - Thursday, March 18 - 3:45-6:45 PM

Saturday, March 20 – 7:00-10:00 AM

Swim-a-thon
On the 23rd and 24th of March, Dynamo will have it’s annual swim-a-thon. Our group will be conducting ours on the 23rd during practice. We have tried to make it a more normal part of practice, rather than a separate day.

In recent years, my group has been the least participative in the event. It is my hope to get 100% participation from the group. I understand that many of you have been part of this for many years; it’s importance is certainly no less to the club.

There are several ways to help, like set-up a page online for relatives out of town to contribute. Please read the below and participate!

Thanks,
JT

March 9 2010

Team,

As you can probably tell, I am pretty pleased with the results of our meet in Nashville. On paper it may not be what we envisioned, but it was finally representative of what great teams do. We encountered many challenges, and we just kept coming, rising to it and helping each other out. We have some really tough people on this Team.

Let’s talk about the summer season some. Two years ago we went to a Grand Prix meet in Columbus in April. I still think it was the best LC Season we have had since I came to Dynamo because we started racing long course in meaningful meets right away.

Last year, we did not, and swam the Spring Splash and Dixie meets here at Dynamo. It took us a long time to get going last season, and we cannot go through that again this season. I have been working to set up a different meet schedule for us this summer. This will also mean there are a few more traveling opportunities, and some cost associated. I encourage you to take advantage as you can, and make those decisions within your family.

I had talked of going back to Columbus months ago, and was met with some push back as the meet is over Easter weekend. Not a worry as I had found a meet in Nashville to go to in late April. Well, since it would be at the same pool we just left, not in a rush to get back to it. So Columbus is back on, and it is an opportunity to race long-course right away. It is a grand prix cut meet, so everyone gets some events. I encourage you to go if possible, but understand that your family needs to make decisions.

I am working on a replacement for the late April. Plan on this type of schedule:

Air Tran flights are cheap right now: The following flight is less than $150.00 right now. I am in the following flights. Please book them on your own, and forward me a confirmation. I will enter you in the meet upon receipt of confirmation; deadline is the 15th of March.

Still working on a cheaper hotel rooms, as of now it would be about $175 per person for the four nights. That will be due before the trip. Will work on getting it down, only other cost would be food on your own (pay for your own as you go).

Outbound: 3/31 Air Tran #517 9:30 AM (11:01 AM)

Return: 4/4 Air Tran # 516 6:00 AM (7:34 AM)

Thanks for your support. I am as excited about this Team right now as I have been about any Team I’ve ever been associated with.

All videos have been uploaded to our website from the high school state meets: http://gallery.mac.com/jasonturx It takes some time to download, but can be loaded to your ipod once done. I need to delete some old ones to speed it up. We will look at some on Wednesday before we swim as well.
