Team,

Thanks for a wonderful 2010-11 sc (and lc) season. Some great efforts and performances, and a national meet Team Title.

A few of the many impressive 'getting to the next level' achievements I wanted to highlight from this fall to spring season were:

2010 Short Course Junior National Team Champions (team)

2 new Olympic Trials Qualifiers (total of 5 people qualified for 2012 Trials out of the group)

5 new Olympic Trials cuts

1 new Summer Senior National qualifier

2 new Long Course Junior National qualifiers

2 new NCSA Junior National qualifiers

5 Individual State Records (team)

7 Relay State Records (team)

Below is practice schedule. We are coming upon the traditional break. I am in favor of you getting some rest and being fresh. I am more in favor of you coming back in great shape and lean. The summer season is short; there are 14 weeks till Sr. Sectionals and 17 Seniors, and 18 Juniors. Remember in 2012 we will not be taking a break at this time, rather in December. If need clarification, call Miranda Fallon.

I am working on our summer schedule, and looking at changing it slightly and should have it out next week sometime. I am similarly working with Matt Rose (Dynamo MultiSport) on a change to our dryland that will include more running for some, and should have a framework for that by sometime next week. The running will entail using the trail at Mercer university some, so please be prepared.

Senior 1 Equipment List

A copy of the senior1 equipment list is below. Most swimmers are missing at least one piece of equipment of the list of required equipment for age group 1. Please review the list of required equipment with your swimmer and replace any missing equipment for the start of the long course season - Monday, April 11, 2011. This is a priority, as we are missing way too much. If it gets taken if you leave it here, put it in your trunk at night, or on the far side of the LC pool.

Kickboard – junior size

Pull buoy – junior size

Hand paddles – New Speedo paddles with teardrop

Finis freestyle paddles as well (need both)

Zoomers 2 or Positive Drive Fin

Snorkel – center mount

Nose clip (several)

Old pair of tennis shoes (in your bag, no running around for when needed)

Mesh bag to store equipment

I want everyone to get a hear rate monitor this season. Information below. Works well with women as can wrap it through suit straps. Men leave transmitter on deck and can press against chest/heart when at the wall. Get the HRM with the fewest buttons, they can last a year or more.

Swim A Thon

The swim-a-thon only began on Tuesday, March 22nd and continues until April 30 when the money is due at the pool. The goal for each swim family this year is to collect $250. If each Dynamo swim family collects at least $250, we will collect a total of $100,000!! That amount of money can provide so many wonderful enhancements to both the Chamblee and Alpharetta facilities. Enhancements we can see, hear, and touch, such as the new sound system that we heard at the metro meet and the new blocks all the kids get to use at meets and every day at practice. The donations of our friends, families, co-workers, and others through swim-a-thon help make our pool a better place for our swimmers. Each swim-a-thon dollar purchases items used by and for the swimmers. This is our chance to contribute to our club. Our swimmers will be proud when they see their hard efforts at raising money go directly toward their practice each day. What an amazing feeling for all of us to know we are making Dynamo the best it can be!!

As an extra benefit, each child of each swim family who raises $250 or above also will receive a ticket to attend a huge event in the Chamblee Dome pool - a movie in the pool!! The swimmers will watch the movie on the big screen while floating on the water! We will have a concession stand with incredible movie treats! There will be two movie showings - one for 12 and under and one for 13 and up - so that each group can view an age appropriate movie and have fun with their friends! This is the event of the season and not to be missed!!!

It is pretty easy to ask family, friends and coworkers for donations and this year it is easier than ever by creating your swimmers own personal page and sending emails out to request donations.

For those senior swimmers who create a donations web page through the site on the front page of the Dynamo website, they can participate in a car wash at Chamblee on Saturday, April 16, from 8 AM until 1 PM to raise money for the swim-a-thon. The car wash will be in lieu of practice that day, but for those swimmers who do not create a page, they will have practice. The car wash donations will be split equally among the swimmers participating for donation credit.

Let’s show our Dynamo pride SR1 swimmers and help raise money for the 2011 Swimathon! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

JT
